Military Experience That Sets Him Apart
Before entering private practice, he served for over a decade in the U.S. Air Force. His assignments took him across the country and overseas, including to Afghanistan and Iraq. He advised commanders on the lawful use of force, trained troops on rules of engagement, and oversaw high-stakes criminal cases involving weapons.
In key roles, he:
- Helped lead air defense missions requiring real-time legal decisions during aircraft intercepts.
- Taught service members when force is justified under international and U.S. law.
- Investigated use-of-force incidents and shaped military justice policy.
These experiences shaped how he views firearms, use of force, and the law — not in theory, but in practice.
Focused Criminal Defense in Utah
Since coming to Utah, he has defended clients in a wide range of criminal cases. Many involve charges related to weapons, self-defense, or the use of force. He handles cases in both state and federal court and appeals before the Utah Court of Appeals and the Utah Supreme Court.
His practice includes:
- Representing clients charged after defensive gun use.
- Challenging prosecutors’ claims about intent, threat, and justification.
- Advising on concealed carry and firearm-related laws in Utah.
His goal is simple: to protect the rights of those who lawfully protect themselves.
Firearms Knowledge Backed by Experience
He’s not just legally knowledgeable — he’s hands-on. He holds the Small Arms Expert Marksman Ribbon from his military service, and he knows how firearms work, how people respond under stress, and how to explain that clearly in court.
A Voice in the Community
Outside of court, he stays involved. He teaches international relations at local high schools and is active with the Layton, Utah, VFW. He brings that same sense of service to his legal work, treating every case with focus and respect.
