The Sunset City Justice Court plays an important role in the local criminal justice system, addressing infractions and class B and class C misdemeanor charges that occur within the boundaries of Sunset, Utah. For more serious felonies and class A misdemeanors that take place within the city limits of Sunset, these cases must be filed at the Second District Court of Davis County, located in Farmington, Utah.

Judge Brian Brower has been serving as the Sunset City Justice Court judge since his appointment in August 2015. Judge Brower also presides in the Clearfield City Justice Court and the Morgan County Justice Court.  

Common Charges in the Sunset Justice Court:

Penalties and Sentencing:

  • Class B Misdemeanor: Up to 180 days in jail.
  • Class C Misdemeanor: Up to 90 days in jail.
  • Additional Penalties: Fines, surcharges, and restitution, which could amount to thousands of dollars.
  • Probation conditions: Treatment or counseling, drug testing, community service, and other court-determined terms for rehabilitation or community safety.
