The Clinton City Justice Court has jurisdiction over infractions, class B and class C misdemeanor charges occurring within Clinton’s borders. Other more serious offenses, including felonies and class A misdemeanors that occur within Clinton’s city limits, fall under the jurisdiction of the Second District Court of Davis County in Farmington, Utah.

Clinton Justice Court Presiding Judge

Judge Catherine Hoskins has been serving as the Clinton City Justice Court judge since her appointment in June 2015. Judge Hoskins also presides in the Syracuse City Justice Court.  

Common Charges in the Clearfield Justice Court:

  • DUI and other alcohol-related offenses.
  • Drug charges.
  • Domestic violence.
  • Property crimes.
  • Traffic offenses.

Sentencing and Penalties:

  • Class B Misdemeanor: A conviction can lead to up to 180 days in jail and a fine, including surcharges, of up to $1900.
  • Class C Misdemeanor: Conviction may result in up to 90 days in jail, plus fines.

Probation Conditions:

When placing a defendant on probation, the Clinton Justice Court has the authority to impose various conditions, including:

  • Mandatory drug testing.
